scarr's pizza

Best Pizza in NYC: MANHATTAN

Pizza Rank 5: Scarr’s Pizza –📍22 Orchard St, New York, NY 10002

Scarr’s Pizza is a cozy spot in the Lower East Side that specializes in New York style pizza. The pizzeria uses organic ingredients for their pies and they make their own flour downstairs in the basement! Their signature thin crust pizza is absolutely amazing. Although I personally loved their NY style slice, the service and the overall ambience/location were a bit below my standards. If location, seating, and subpar service do not bother you, then you’re in for a treat. My advice is to get it to-go and enjoy it outside in a nearby bench. Pro Tip: don’t skip the Mike’s Hot Honey

NY Pizza Suprema

Best Pizza in MANHATTAN

Pizza Rank 4: NY Pizza Suprema –📍413 8th Ave, New York, NY 10001

NY Pizza Suprema is a no-frills spot in Midtown that serves up some of the city’s best pies. Their signature large slices come with a thick, chewy crust and generous toppings. They also serve New York style calzones – which are just as delicious as their pizzas. I’ve been going here since high school, as it’s conveniently located right outside Penn Station & MSG. They used to serve only regular plain cheese NY style slices and were always a solid place to get pizza.

Bleecker Street Pizza is another popular spot in Greenwich Village that specializes in traditional Neapolitan-style pizza. The restaurant offers freshly made pies that are cooked in wood fired ovens and topped with high quality ingredients like basil and extra virgin olive oil. Whether you go for the classic NY style slice or something more unique like their award-winning Nonna Maria slice, you’ll be sure to enjoy the delicious flavor of this spot’s pizza.

Joe's Pizza

Best Pizza in MANHATTAN

Pizza Rank 2: Joe’s Pizza –📍7 Carmine St, New York, NY 10014

The quintessential NY style slice. Joe’s Pizza is seriously one of the best pizzas in all of New York, possibly even the whole world. It’s an old-school classic in Greenwich Village. They have so many locations now, but this one is the original and it’s been around since 1975 and still serves up some of the best slices in the city. Joe’s signature thin crust pizza is served with a generous helping of cheese, which makes it one of the most popular spots in the area. They also offer unique specialty pies like their white pizza with ricotta, garlic, and olive oil – Yum!

This spot takes pride in using only high quality ingredients for their pies and offers custom topping combinations if you’re feeling adventurous. Whether you go for a plain slice or something more elaborate, you won’t be disappointed. They take the #1 spot on my list of the Best Pizza places in Manhattan.

BROOKLYN

TOP 5 Best Pizza in NYC: BROOKLYN

(Ranked from Worst to Best)

Juliana's

Best Pizza in BROOKLYN

Pizza Rank 5: Juliana’s –📍19 Old Fulton St, Brooklyn, NY 11201

Juliana’s Pizza is located in DUMBO, Brooklyn and supposedly offers some of the city’s best coal-fired pizza. The owner is none other than Patsy Grimaldi (previous owner of the famous Grimaldi’s in Brooklyn located right next door). They take pride in using quality ingredients like San Marzano tomatoes and freshly made mozzarella cheese for their pies. You might want to eat the pizza while it’s piping hot, because if you order it to-go (like I did), and eat it too late, then the ultra thin crust pizza gets cold and soggy. My advice? Eat it fresh out of the oven inside.

Roberta's

Best Pizza in BROOKLYN

Pizza Rank 4: Roberta’s –📍261 Moore St, Brooklyn, NY 11206

Roberta’s is a popular spot in Bushwick that offers unique creations like their famous Bee Sting pizza. This pie comes with spicy soppressata, fresh basil, tomato, mozzarella cheese and honey – making it one of the most creative pies on the menu. Whether you choose to go for something off-the-wall or stick to a classic topping combination, Roberta’s will satisfy your pizza cravings. I warn you, though, it is not your typical grab-and-go NY style slice. It’s more of a sit-down restaurant located in a secluded part of Brooklyn.

Luigi's Pizza

Best Pizza in BROOKLYN

Pizza Rank 3: Luigi’s Pizza –📍686 5th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11215

Luigi’s Pizza is like the Joe’s Pizza of Brooklyn. This traditional Italian pizzeria has been serving up some of the best slices since 1961 and continues to use only the freshest ingredients for their pies. P.S. – The owner is still there(!), making their signature thin crust pizzas, loaded with a generous helping of cheese and topped with homemade tomato sauce. I’d say their most popular menu item is their fresh mozzarella slice, which is probably one of the best slices you can get in all of New York.

Pizza Rank 2: L’Industrie Pizzeria –📍254 S 2nd St, Brooklyn, NY 11211

L’Industrie Pizza is one of the newest spots in town and it is quickly becoming a favorite among pizza-lovers (including myself). This joint serves up thin crust pies that are cooked to perfection in their stone ovens and topped with high quality ingredients like homemade mozzarella cheese and freshly made sauce. Their most notable menu item is the Burrata slice. There’s almost always a line out the door so be prepared to wait a bit!

Best Pizza in BROOKLYN

Pizza Rank 1: L&B Spumoni Gardens –📍2725 86th St, Brooklyn, NY 11223

L&B Spumoni Gardens is an iconic pizzeria located in Brooklyn. This old-school spot has been around since 1939 and still serves some of the city’s best Sicilian-style slices. To emphasize that: they’ve been open for over EIGHTY years! Sheesh! They offer classic large slices with two layers of mozzarella cheese and light tomato sauce that are sure to hit the spot – no matter what kind of pizza you’re craving. I personally guarantee that you’ll have an awesome time here. They have awesome location, awesome vibes, awesome service, and most importantly, awesome pizza. They’re located in a convenient little shopping strip with lots of different stores and attractions, like McDonald’s, Sparkly Car Wash, Multiplex Cinema, Whitestone Lanes, and more. They’re easily one of the best slices here in Queens, in my book. Their slices are always PIPING HOT, so be careful.

Best Pizza in QUEENS

Pizza Rank 3: Rosario’s –📍22-55 31st St, Queens, NY 11105

Rosario’s in Astoria is a family-run Italian grocery store/pizza shop. They’ve been serving up one of the best fresh mozzarella slices since 2001. The owner, Mr. Rosario, still works there with passion, love and dedication. He is one of the main reasons why you need to try the pizza at this little establishment. It’s definitely an odd place to try pizza, but trust me – you won’t regret it. Their most notable slice is the plain NY style slice, made with their fresh mozzarella cheese. They make their cheese fresh everyday, 3-4 times daily. I can’t wait to go back for another slice!

I’ve lived in Flushing for about 16 years and this has always been one of my GO-TO pizza spots. The absolute best. They offer classic NY style slices, Italian-style pies with a light and airy crust that’s cooked to perfection, and more from their wood-fired oven. I tried almost everything there, from their calzones, to their pastas, to their beef patties. It’s amazing.
